7d. Ignoring regretful admission from greenhouse gardener? (7,4)
I think the first word is cutting and the second and fourth letters of the second word are e and d.

Thanks scorpiojo. I thought it might be that. Presumably then, the logic is that cutting dead growth is regrettable for a gardener, because it has died. As a gardener myself, I’d say that regretful is superfluous in this clue - either that or I need to find a different hobby, regretfully.
