Thanks Laurel and Scorpiojo, I've seen it answered elsewhere as CUBES but I literally have no idea why. I've tried playing around with the numbers in the clue (their square and cubes and their roots, and also the number of the clue itself, 24D, but to no avail!

Hi Mattrom, it does say "here" so could well be referencing itself, but, if it is a 15x15 crossword then where does the figure 450 come from and wouldn't they be squares not cubes?
