Three I'm having difficulty parsing. This is an odd clue:
24a Country - one hosting race at its centre (6)
I can't see any cryptic component at all to my answer (which might be wrong, of course!)

My solution starts with m but i’m not sure about it. I agree it’s a strange clue. I took the race to be GP

Mine too - it might have been in the Quick!

My other two were 12a
Big name almost sure to avoid relegation (4,2)
I have "avoid relegation" as the definition

27a US comedienne possibly not scratching old bottom (9)
I have "bottom" as the def. My lack of parsing might be related to my inability to name any US comediennes since Goldie Hawn (I nearly said Lucille ball!)

Glad to see that chrise and zozozo are puzzled and it's not just me!

27 it’s not a specific person but how a comedienne might be referred to in the us

12 a famous person minus the last letter and a colloquial word for yes

As for the race one, think centre of the word race.

Thanks zozozo. I see 27 now (nice clue!), but I suspect that I have 12 wrong.
Scrub that - a generic "famous person" works!
