I had a terrible dream that the Wee Stinker had been moved from its Monday slot, then no more T-shirts were being awarded, then the Scottish government were about to raise the price of a bog standard 4% ABV can of lager to about £1 minimum, then I woke up and.........AAAARGH

They are doing their best to kill the golden goose methinks

Then they publish their easiest crossword to date

Not worth the t-shirt it might have been written on - still at least it didn't take up most of Saturday and part if Sunday as last week's did!

Anyone else concerned that yet again there seems to be some muddling of clue numbers (when used within clues)?

17d ... number 11 (4). The answer is LAST

11ac = Well

15d though is STANDING and I think the clue works like this, Number=n, N=last man. LAST man standing provides the LAST for 17d.

Too tortuous or has anyone got any better ideas? I’m probably missing something way more obvious.

Anyhow, it’s a bit concerning that number errors seem to be increasing. :-(

Reminds me, why is 15d STANDING (if that is indeed the right answer. Obviously fits for rank but don’t get the old dog connection.

Surely worthy of a weekend of national mourning to have lost the T shirt. I have nine, but only one came with the McTear's voucher, to which I had to add about £100 to get something decent at the auction. The T shirts were my chief aim in completing the crossword. A sad day indeed.
