I have the answer to 1a (from crossers) but can't see which is extra/ missing

Da (father in local dialect)
The (h is extra)

Gives date (time)

Only a wild half stab...

Yes it seems so in 21a/3d and 48a/34d, I assume the second is 'crucial'.

Have you got the main protagonist, running diagonally ending bottom right. I didn't know the quote but it's on his wiki page
