I avoided mentioning that, andyc, in case the Pedant Of The Year award came my way! There're umpteen ways the setter could have got an E, the chosen one seems sloppy to me.

Erica is a genus, and thus often abbreviated as E, as in E. arborea, but that's usually only when the genus has already been mentioned in some context.

Thanks, Aristo... I checked Chambers and E = Erica isn't given. I think it's a rather lazy setter!
