I gather from this thread that there have been problems with the paper copy distribution of the Listener to some. Here is a link to the PDF in Dropbox for those who did not get it.

Novice, there is no clash with ORIBI. You have a wrongly spelled answer for 18ac . I think I know how you got it, but you have counted one letter in the wordplay twice. 'Yes' in the clue indicates not AY but a single-letter abbreviation that means ( and sounds) the same.

The U comes from another clash (it's the firsst letter of an across answer).

Novice - there is no clash - 18a is spelt with an I (definition 3 same as aye=yes)

help please with...
28d Valved pipe attached to plastic engine component (6)??PME? but the M is a clash i believe ....tappet?
37d Coat with protective clay a pound of yellow glandular tissue (6) PU??A? probably a clash in here too
and despite hints on here earlier i still can't get the passages at 14d ?
(passages from Gabon being avoided by ships)

Hi kirky, Gabon = G. Remove that from a word for old ships to get passageways - the sort that cats are associated with. As for the other two, I'm stuck on those too.

Kirky - you've got 28d correct. 37d to coat with clay is to lute. 14d think of Roman ships with rowers...
