Hi Jimbo. The clue is Roast meat eaten with end bits cut off (8) I have ?a?b???e, but can't figure out how it fit's with 3 dn which is Cheerful-sounding young fellow (5) ??n?y. Struggling today!

Lambaste = roast
Lamb = meat
aste =tasted with end letters off
