Thank you for that. I initially thought it was DOTTERING - well I had DOT for the girl, so it fitted. However, I did look that word up, and changed my mind to DITHERING but I had no idea how the clue fitted together. Anyway I won't be posting it as I live in Ireland, and with our postal service, the crossword is unlikely to be delivered for a fortnight. Best of luck to you.
