I usually manage to finish the crossword - sometimes with a little from my friends here - but was totally flummoxed by No. 48. I kept it for weeks, but when the solution was due. RT repeated the answers to no. 47 ! The new one has not corrected that, as I hoped. I`ve e-mailed RT about it. I really hate not finishing a x-word ! Was anyone else stuck on No. 48 ?

The editor of RT has, very kindly, sent me the answers to No.48. What a kind and unexpected gesture.He will put the solution in a future RT for others who may have been as puzzled as I was ! Mags.

One long clue was an artist, beginning with V. Not realising it was an anagram, I put in Veronese, and tried to fit answers using those letters. It was actually Vettriano ! No wonder I was stuck. Mags.
