A few little mysteries:-
6 Down:- "Brief period before fifth over" (5) R---T (remit?)
11 Across:- "A little more time for Rex" (4) --T- (mite?)
15 Down:- "Nothing I cut off comes back" answer is NIL
20 Across:- "Thorn possibly not recovered" (4) R-N-
22 Across:- "A foreign place as described" answer appears
to be ATHENS. ("as" around "then" seems favourite)

6d remit - a brief
time (reversed) + r (5th letter of before)

11a mote
more - replace r with t

Good Lord, I'd have never tied up "rune" with "thorn"!

I am not sure if Nil could be LIN(e) reversed, if the "I" is an L ?

Cerasus the I is 'a line' which when cut & reversed is NIL.
