But thinking about it the mag is still wrong to define it as an often abbreviated Latin word when in Latin it was two words.

I am keen on derivations of, nice differences between and accuracy in words myself, Jim - though some call me pedantic.

(Probably we generally think that it is very important to be accurate - but to the degree of our own expertise .. those who are more expert risk being called pedants. C'est la vie!)

Not so bad; 'Probably' modifies the clause, 'generally' modifies the verb.
