Happy New Year, everyone!

A quick recommendation for the Genius published today. It's an Arachne and has all her characteristic wit and fine surfaces. It's also very rigorously constructed and once the import of the instructions is grasped an amenable and enjoyable solve.

Happy solving year from me too - got this done in under three hours - around average - lots of takeways (subtractions) and a fair amount of drugs.

Despite solving most of the Across clues, I still can't fathom what the instructions are all about. Am I correct in thinking that some of the across answers need to be modified in some way? Are all the answers real words?

Enjoyed that one! Took a while to see what 'items of misinformation and information' I was looking for (in fact, I nearly gave up at one point) but they provided two separate PDMs. Over all too soon.

Should have said, for anyone like me who solved a lot of across clues without knowing what was going on and may be about to give up, 2D was my way in. Worth persevering!

Even now, looking back, I am struck by how cleverly the adjustments to the down clues are hidden in plain sight. A tour de force I think.
