At this point, I am at what Clue 19D is - stuck forever on last two.

19D. Clue: Off your trolley ... (5). Have: ? o ? t ?
I have looked at definitions for both POTTY & DOTTY.
Can anyone definitely tell which it is, please.

28D. Clue: The country is home to every son and daughter of the soil (6). Have: R ? s ? i ?.
Down to Russia OR Rustic.

Finally I made a boo-boo of 71A. Knew it was ROLL for the answer but inadvertently put in ROLE. What is the best way to change it - erase with Tippex? Do scrutinisers look unfavourably on entries with such changes?

It's just that these two clues have bewildered a nation of xworders.

Potty and dotty
And
Russia and rustic
Have both been pondered on by a lot of people.

In my opinion (for what that's worth. Lol

I think dotty may be the answer because of the ellipsis (...)
In the clue.
Hence the three dots make it dotty.

As for the other.
I think it's a 50/50 guess.

Sorry I can't be of more use.
But this may get others attention by bring it to the top.

I'm afraid I can't add any more re the 2 clues.

Re tippex. You'll only need to use a minimal amount to change E to L.
Just use something like a pinhead and I'm sure no-one will even notice!

re the clue for 71a has been answered as Role.

71a. This is the part you'll hear that comes from drums.

Definitely ROLE.
No need for tippex after all!
