A few remaining clues:

Wordplay leads to an extra letter. Each clue below has a companion clue but first would like to solve these.

14. Please bring booze: Earl scrapped cockfight (3) ?YE

23. Chaps get bit of a kip in Confederacy (4)

30. Trials without charity for eczema sufferers (4) ?OES

7d. Earlier paper about Copenhagen interpretation of Bible cut just after betting game (5) Could be Krone?

Bye- by(o) as in bring your own- o is extra and e for Earl

Cats- an at is a bit of a kip in currency. Confederacy in Civil war was CSY so put AT in side CS- Y is extra letter

Woes- wo is without

NES is national eczema society

n is extra

Krone is correct. Though you needed to have 10 of them in order for them to be paper. That clue also contains a hint to one of the names. Some uncertainty about that.

I have all the letters at 1a except the unchecked.
How do you use playfair breaker in that situation?
(?HGS?WCKM?G?)

I have the mothers from 6* clue.
The second clue rhymes with it and key groups is the def.
I cannot parse it so I do not know what the extra letter is.
