Instuction now making perfect sense....had wrong extra at 6D and 23D.

Very enjoyable thanks H/Soup...some nice surfaces, particularly liked the nod to Mussolini's dislike of pasta at 2D.

I would love to say that that was intentional, but it’s a coincidence - I have learned a new fact today!

Just finished this delightful puzzle with several chuckles. But cannot parse 12 although I am sure my answer is correct. A hefty nudge would be appreciated.

evening is a pun ... I'm still perplexed as to parsing of 23d and 28 ....

23 down. Three letter meaning with followed by four letter word for boss (meaning knob) less l.
28 think Associated Press plus informal word for a socialist minus f and with a letter meaning noon inserted.

The missing field for 25d is now present...

Thanks, HSoup - but if one's already submitted they won't accept another submission, I believe ... and thanks notrab - didn't know either synonyms in 23!

I'm not replying to this specific post, but it's the only way I can fnid to enter a query. Can anyone give me any hints about 13D (for which I have an idea) and 17A (for which I have no idea). I also ahve problems parsing three others, but I'm happy with them!
