S?R???T Is it servant?

12a - They represent people a long time since perhaps (8)

I'm new to cryptic crosswords, so I would be grateful if you could explain the answers. Thank you for your help.

Hi Lindsey

12a. agencies ... 'age' ('a long time') + an anagram of 'since' (anagram signified by 'perhaps')

Hi again.

I should have said that I agree with 'servant' for 1d ('wait' has double meaning in this clue along the lines of 'table waiter' and 'a delay').

Hi JimC,

Thank you for your help. I didn't realise that 'perhaps' indicated an anagram - that's useful to know.
