Two clued answers (non-thematic) to get! And as there's not much to chew over on the forum today, here you are:
9d Capital husband invested in food shop. (5) ??L??
Not sure where an H for husband (?) can fit in there!
42a Mighty old sore (5) ??L?N
That leaves me just the theme words, which I suspect are beyond my knowledge today....

The first definition, in Chambers, of 'felon' says 'mighty', the second says 'old sore'.

I see felon is an archaic word for a sore, why mighty?
Thanks anyway.

My Chambers is the revised 13th edition. For 'Felon'(1) it says... 'a person guilty of a felony; wicked (archaic); depraved (archaic), wicked or cruel; fell;fierce; mighty'. For 'Felon' (2), '(archaic) an inflamed sore'.
