What a stinker this is! Unfamiliar words with tricksy constructions (16a for instance), dubious anagram indicators (18a), baffling parsing (3d - if I'm right, that is!), apparent errors in cryptic grammar (14d), and ambiguous answers (15a).

Now to the point. The SW is currently more or less empty; I'll have another look in a bit. However I'm completely stuck on 1d

looks like Vettriano (scottish painter ... anagram of verona it + t)

Good afternoon all. It is a while since I posted but I ofteñ have a quick look for any hints!! I am very stuck this week with SW and NE corners, 20A Friend has first mobile home in centre (8) i have ???M?D?E. and 23A Fine display taking time in store (9) and I have ???S?N?R?. By the way chrise, thanks for 21D -a new word for me and thank you for all the other hints you have given. This is a tricky crossword.
