Some down clues should have a letter removed befor e solving. No answer length is given.

Rages from father when son turns up late

The last down clue answer has 8 letters. The grid has no place to put it in. Max size of down entries is 7. Any ideas?

Hints please.
I will ask for clarification if hints not enough.

Just making a start .... so far... have 1a, 6a, 7a , and the "greek vessels " down clue if you need any of them?

You will find that all the down answers are the "wrong" length to fit the grid column entries.

I do not have Greek vessels.

As kobrut says down entries are longer than grid.
So some rethinking required.

I had Dashed around at 4 letters and entered it as 1d.

I have Prod in at 6 letters,

Sudden ruin at 5.
I also have the last 3 across answers.

Oops. Kobrut said the down answers are "wrong"length.

The last down entry is 8 letters and is an anagram of three words minus two letters. Def. is places letters in press.

I finally turned the light on.

greek vessels.... take "regular letters" (5 of them) from oily paste and then anagram them to give some Greek vessels

The word empty stumped me. I thought it was OY plus regular letters
from paste. Why is the word empty in the clue?
