Would that be a detective who comes up with a solution in spite of not having any clues to work with?

... or is it the series in which an amateur detective always seems to be nearby when murders take place but, despite the strong correlation, is never suspected by the police?

...or perhaps the psychic detective who intuits the answer out of thin air HAVING NO CLUES TO GO ON.

At least this poster's name anticipated the (merited) criticism which the poster's lack of information elicited.....though it failed to prepare one for the humour in that criticism.

Thank you for the smiles

It's the detective who, at 1am and without reading glasses, reads the wrong clue! Already had detective, which was Taggart, and was trying to find a TV detective which fitted into the letters
s*e*t*o*n- the actual clue was - a type of maize but to my mind there will now always be a detective sweetcorn.
Thanks all.
