"Remove from a lofty perch" = def, but I can't work out what "from the other end" has to do with it.

What is "wicked" doing here?

5 a candle has a wick - is wicked

22 anagram of other end

Anagram OTHER END

Candles have WICKS, so are "wicked" (this is a bit of a chestnut in crosswords!)

Thank you very much ChrisE and zozozo. They both seem so obvious now! I will try to remember the wick connection for next time.
