20d is OUTWENT obs.surpassed.
50d is STEIN a large German drinking vessel,Gertrude Stein was a US writer.
30a I am not sure you have put the right letters in. EL-E-MEN-TAL of fire,say.

Having looked again at your 30a If you have entered MIND as the last word of 8d,the correct word is TUNE.

Hi Jerry. Yes, I had put 'mind' but when you gave the answer of 'elemental' I realised that 'tune' was the more apt alternative.
