39 Finish Line, where to stop running. Finish = complete, Line = range.

Rusty & Malone, Thanks.

You have reached the conclusions to which I came.

BUT, where is the "banks" in WRASSE? That is what lead to my indecision - that & preferring the expression "Finishing Line".

Bear, the word "re" is the banks.
It is on either side of "ass", therefore banking "ass".

I saw the parsing for WRASSE as "with" (W) + "ASS" inside of "RE" (on), "RE" therefore banking "ASS".
Whilst I'm on, can anyone explain the connection with "FROG" in the clue for 40 Down, which is:-
"Lucky charm that protects frog", the answer for which is "HORSESHOE".

I thought that it probably was but I couldn't find any reference to substantiate it.
