Please can anyone help with clue 40 - A universal choir is heard in a County Durham town (5,5,2,7,4)
Thanks for thinking about it.

Betty. I cannot help but think the last two words are "...... Wheatley Hill." Some locally significant event, building or landmark, perhaps? Xfan

I don't know either, but I've just ordered a case of 3 Choirs wine!

Thanks for trying to help. I'll work on it.
Meanwhile the 3 choirs wine sounds like a good plan.

Hello again Betty. A bit more digging shows that until recently Tata Steel operated a plant at Hartlepool, Teeside. This operation had previously been known as Corus Group; so possibly "heard" as "Chorus Group". Maybe the Head Office was somewhere leafier? Xfan

Thanks Xfan. I have been working on the Wheatley hill idea but couldn't make anything fit. Meanwhile i have discovered that the first word of the answer must come alphabetically between Co - and FE. So Corus might well fit. I'll think about it.

I have now come to the conclusion that the last 3 words in clue 40 - A universal choir is heard in a County Durham town (5,5,2,7,4) must be "in concert sing". Consett heard as Concert.
But I still cannot guess the first 2 words.
Any help please.

Xfan, if I hear anything, or even figure it out myself, I will let you know. Are you doing this quiz?

There is a hymn, "Let Saints on Earth in Concert Sing".
Though it does not fit with the given letters, I'm afraid!
