When you say "it won't fit", manudave, does this mean that you already have some letters? or a known number of letters?

No 6 letter words with 2nd & 3rd letter the same so not hoofer

Rusty, what was meant was that there are no 6-letter words where the 2nd and 3rd letters are the same. The Alpha puzzle is one of those where every letter of the alphabet is given a number. You could have 4 12 12 - which could lead to Zoo, Bee etc. There's no indication of how long the Alphapuzzle clue answer is.
