Kirky, it's 5,6,2 - and just a phrase for Pelted. Your letters are fine.

Glad you got it - I found it an odd clue.

Anybody else got two possible answers for the unclued entry at 12 Across, with no clues from the unchecked cells? Wouldn't SALLET or TASLET both serve equally well, or is there some further thematic subdivision I've missed?

I have the same quandary.maybe it should be Taslet as sallet is a helmet and all the other ones are on the body!Except I don't have 32 d and 39 a.i have all the other clues. Any help? Thanks.

I thought the same, Jadzia, but I now have 28d as a helmet as well.

39a. I have a word often preceded by 'his' in reference to upper class people

32 down might be on right leg in Paris.

The only thing I can think of for the 12 across dilemma, is that it has slipped through the editorial process somehow, so either will do. I'm just going to go with SALLET.
