I don't know if I'm going blind, but I count four 9-letter spaces in the grind, and can only find three in the clues - L, N and O.
Misprint somewhere?

The letter counts for the B clues are incorrectly shown as (8,8) when they should be (7,9)

I've looked at the instructions and decided to give this a miss. Is the comment on the "thematic X" an admission of a mistake?

That would explain why the (surely) only possible solution for the 12-letter word beginning with C doesn't work if we have to assume that N is the only 7 and 9-letter combination. So where I had thought N was, I'll put B. Many thanks.

This is really confusing me! I'm sure usually in these puzzles when you have 2 answers per letter the clues are clearly divided in 2.

So am I understanding this right in thinking the WHOLE clue for each letter leads to 2 different answers? ...... jeez, think I might give this a miss which is a shame as I usually enjoy the bank holiday ones. This just seems stupid, making it hard just for the sake of it!

Thank you ! It's easy to be critical but honestly these longer puzzles are difficult enough without basic typesetting errors which need the smarter solvers to highlight in order for the rest of us to keep going. I've got plenty of answers and no doubt can grind through the rest over the weekend. But sitting staring at the 12 letter C solution and not understanding why it doesn't fit with the N answers isn't fun. The Grauniad strikes again!

I am having to make my own division of clues (at least in some cases) for instance Q, the division between the two clues is after the word aztec;
