Phew.
A lot of work finding jumbled letters but not that difficult.
Once 21 letters are identified, filling in the perimeter is easy.
Good luck.

Sadly this conversation has come to a halt. I have completed the crossword and filling the perimeter has brought problems. I have the lemur at 33 D ending in "I" and I'm stuck after "UP" as one of the perimeter titles.
[That's not quite true - at 42 across I have ?AL?E for "length in ridge",
hyphened have not solved it].
I thought the puzzle interesting but found the instructions somewhat difficult to unravel. Off to France in a few hours so must work fast.
