Having a problem fully parsing these:-
8 Down - "No home for someone good or bad" (NASTY)
13 Down - "Committed copper double-checking lead" (DID)
15 Down - "A descendant ran back from this" (SON)
18 Down - "Flower seller's right - he broke down (RHONE)

See most of the construction of each clue, but not happy unless I see all!!

13, Copper = DI (Detective Inspector)
"d"ouble-checking lead is the letter "d"
Did = committed.

OH well, that's two I now see, so thanks, Ab and Rusty! I had been wrestling with "no sty" for one of them, and anything from "PB" (lead) to "CU" (copper) for the other!
As for the "flower" one (Rhone), I think the "R" comes from the right-hand letter of "seller".
