If you get 1d ( an 8 letter monkey minus the man) you will have the 1st letter which should help

Almost there, but not sure if the 4th letter of 2d should be i or y ?
"Report" could refer to either "mocking" or "highly sexed "

clue is
mocking report that's highly sexed (7)

I have all letters, just querying the 4th

I have put y on the basis that report immediately follows mocking with that is signifying the definition

I had put i, but will change i to y. All finished now

I had the same dilemma, but convinced myself it must be i.

I couldn't believe it was a Philistine - even easier than the last two prizes. 6a would be barely out of place in a Quick.

This crossword was more like the Everyman. A bit disappointed, but at least I had time to mow the lawn ;)

I would agree but I am stuck on 19a-17d the crossers all seem fine but nothing fits the answer. and for a while I had CHAP(ter) for 26a now only one letter.
