Last two. Needing explanation, please.

Unhappy time for a bull (5) S _ U _ P
I think it's SLUMP but I don't see the connection with Bull.

Close in an attack (4) R _ I _
I think it's RAID but I don't see the connection with Close.

Thanks for any help - or correction, if I'm wrong!

bull is stock exchange term for someone who buys shares cheap (in a slump) and hopefully sells at a profit.

In stock market terms, a bull market is a rising one (a bear market is falling), so the opposite is indeed a slump.

I must be doing the same crossword, since I was down to the same last two. However Google suggests RAIL not not RAID but I can't see connection with CLOSE either
