Good evening all.. today's clue is...Rattan's pruned back for oil.... as always all help much appreciated

Attar, oil - backwards in the clue. It's pruned because 'Rattan's' cut and it's reversed because of back.

Thanks Malone, you're a star. And thanks for the info on how you got the answer, I was looking at anagrams of 'pruned' LOL..I will learn how to work out these cryptic clues!!!
