The key seems to be 17a
Creator of across solutions shows amazing breadth (3,4)

I've got 3 across solutions who were, but 2 who don't seem to be. Are all the across ones supposed to be creations of 17a?

I think all of my answers work with 17 A, there's only a couple that I'd need to check to confirm.

Yes, I checked mine once I'd finished and found the same as you. It was a clever idea for a theme.
