I've finished, but I'd like an explanation of how the first "1000" gives the first two letters of 1a please.

1000 1000 1000 - regular telnet, say (7)

I've just got two left to get. Any hints for 14 across?
Scottish heaven and hell? A lot confused about England's crown.

Hi docrum
It's an expression unfamiliar to me, but it's a straight anagram (made easier if you correct the P!)

Docrum and chrise, for what (little!) it's worth 14a is a Scots expression meaning "the place of those who are loyal" - ie heaven. I agree with you loverman. But I struggled mightily with Gaff's anniversary themed FT. Just couldn't get on his wavelength.

Thanks Jack
I did find it through Google. It seems to appear in several folk songs, and also a Burns poem.

I too have found it easy, but still can't get last two including 1ac and 2d
1ac. 1000 1000 1000- regular tenet, say(7)
I have C???E?T. I'm assuming it ends with ent.
2dPick up a stumping, then English runs follow Moeen's debut (6)
Any hints?

I think I have 1ac now. Still seeking 2 down. Is it a cricketing term?
