I'm stuck on 9ac Rolls? This vehicle does (9). I've got E?C???T?R. ESCALATOR possibly but why? Any thoughts?

I saw this answered elsewhere as Escalator. I suppose it 'rolls' as it's a continuous piece of machinery, revolving constantly.

I didn't do this crossword, but I saw it was transport/moving related - and I saw 'Rolls' as being a deliberate misdirection. This could be wrong, of course, as I haven't seen the whole crossword!
