Hello,

Can anyone explain the solution to the clue below for me? I don't get the 'overrated' bit.

Clue: "Her husband is likely to be much overrated [9]"

Solution: TERMAGANT

'Rate' can mean to scold or to chide - so 'overrated', rated too much/too often as a termagant is likely to do.

You're welcome. I've seen rate/rated used like this in crosswords before. Chambers Dictionary gives one meaning of 'rate' as ... 'to scold, to chide, to reproof'.
