Thanks Malone and Cerasus.
Re 14a where I said that it must be plectrum, I'd just like to check that I have 7d correct. "It's vital that a retired factory worker drinks strong wine". I have the answer as "all important" with the "p" being the start of the word plectrum. The e, t, u and m are definitely right, so could it be anything else?

'Talcum powder' is an anagram of 'woad + plectrum', so PLECTRUM is correct
