Completed grid but with two uncertainties. 23a unclued and 11d unclued. I have D?RNE?? and ?OOS?? for these. Am I adrift here or do I persevere with my search? Advice would be helpful and appreciated.

11d is a normal clue ..."boots" is the old hotel servant with S inside to make boosts

Thanks bunty. Things were much clearer when I realised that 11down is clued and my time searching for a theme connection had been wasted (another of my careless mistakes). Thank you too for confirming the place name.
