A bit of help with the last one please:

19A Go for band (4) - ?L?G

There are too many options to be sure but SLOG seems good. I don't see the "band" unless it's one these modern groups.

It's possible the "L" is wrong as I have ILLAPSE for:

16D Former wife: big model (7) but can't really parse it.

I think EX AMPLE would be better for the other - which letter does that give?

GANG = Scots to go for and also a band

EX (former wife) AMPLE big

What about

1D (5) Dig green border ??T?? (thinking DITCH)

10A Substitute 2 with this (3) ??N (thinking MAN) [2 is TWELFT]

15A An idea for epic (6) ?E?E?D (thinking AENEID but this is not an anagram of AN + IDEA)

Thanks John.

1D is DITCH - To dig and the border of a field.
10A is MAN - Twelfth man is a substitute.

I had AENIAD for 15A which I found as an alternative spelling of AENEID. That's how I had ILLAPSE for 16D. It looks as though there's an error in the clue for 15A.

Idee (with an acute accent over the first e) is an idea, from the French, which would give correct anagram fodder for AENEID.
