Hi Karen,
People sometimes refer to themselves (i) as one.
and D is short for Day in,for instance, filling out a form you might be shown the format DD/MM/YYYY.
I think there may be clearer,better examples of both but yes,you are right.

and don't forget, Karen, that i is a Roman numeral for 1, just as ii is 2, v is 5 etc.

A much better example.
Roman numerals are used a lot in cryptic clues.
