A bit of a strange request folks but I need your help.
I'm at work and need to change my log in details. Only problem is, I set up the new account last week using the page number that 'scold's bridle' is on in the Chamber's dictionary. It won't let me change password until I verify the old one. Could one of you nice people let me know the page number it's on. I think I have edition 12 or 13 at home (the one with the Red edged pages in the middle)
So maybe the page is different but i can try both before I finish later.
Thanks in advance for any help.

1479 in mine, Les, but I suspect that it's the wrong edition - in fact I'm wondering if it's a "pirate" edition, as nowhere does it say which one it is, though the publishing date is given as 1998.

Is that not very odd? 3 different editions, a word far down in the alphabet on the same page in each?

And my Chambers is the imfamous 13th edition - the one with the missing 500 words!
"Scots' bridle " appears on page 1397!

I don't have any red-rimmed pages in the middle of the volume!

makes a good birthday present, steve! I just wish they would choose a less in-your-face colour for the binding/jacket. Must cover mine (and matching thesaurus) some time.

I am still curious about my paperback, 1998, un-numbered edition. Is it really a pirate?
