I've finished the but I still have no idea what the theme is. Can anyone help?

To expand on my original post (and with apologies for the missing word):

One clue ends with “in location of 1 8”
The rest of that clue is “Imagine his output”, and my solution is John Lennon.

Four clues end with “…in place of 1 8”.
My solutions to those are: George Best, Bob Hope, Arnold Palmer, John Wayne.

Assuming 1 8 is an internal reference it stands for “flying start”.

But what is all that about?

Theme seen as

"airports named after a famous person"

I think they all have airports named after them
