I've completed the crossword but uncertain about the wordplay on final clue:

15d Box at Lord's perhaps for Jack Hill (9)

I have P?O?E?T?R and reckon the answer is PROTECTOR which could be a box used by cricketers at Lord's. But why Jack Hill? There was an Australian international of that name in the 1950's, but I can't see the relevance of that.

Another word that fits the pattern is Projector, but I don't think that's an option.

Has anybody any words of wisdom to throw at this?

For = PRO
Jack = TEC total guess
Hill = TOR

I will look further into Jack/Tec.

Jack Hill is rhyming slang for pill as in contraceptive hence protector!

Chambers give jack as a detective. Pro - for, Jack-Tec etc with box at Lords as stated?
