I cannot parse 1a.

Brand of amplifier adopted by meetings (7)

The answer seems to be a Brand name for plastic beginning with F and ending in A.

Not sure about meetings.

I think the first three letters and the last = meetings, (the plural of where we are now!). The middle three letters = amplifier.
