...by that, I mean "catalysis" is an abstract idea, so shouldn't be an "it". "The process of speeding up" would be better.

btw at least they're in the right ballpark. It annoys me that when most people use the term "catalyst" they actually mean "trigger" (there's a technical difference that chemists care about!)
