So is there some sort of pattern? The recurrence of the clue to 14down, the two clues that result in the answer to 22down, the alternative placements? One possible top line of the grid describes my current state.
Hmm I think this is more complex/ There are 34 clues but only 32 answer boxes. There are 8 pairs of answers which are interchangeable. With no further instruction as to the order in which each pair sits there are 2^8 (64) solutions. Or have I missed something as well?
Oops yes i have missed something two of the pairs are fixed by numbered clues so there are only 6 pairs which are interchangeable so there are 2^6 which is what i meant to make 64 solutions.
