Hi Chaz
You are correct with MUD and MUSTARD, and I think when you get the others you will see the pattern. If after that you are not sure what to do with them ask again. I don't want to tell you or anyone else more than they want to know.
Have fun!

Hi - I got the asterisked clues late last night in sudden flash of inspiration but am very unsure about 14d & 18a. I thought they might be 'Carma' and 'Parr' repectively but can't see how they fit the clues. Can anyone put me right if I'm wrong or explain how those clues work? Many thanks.

PARR is correct = 1)a young salmon under 2 years of age.
= 2)Catherine Parr, the 6th and last of Henry V111 wives.

Look again at 14d, the first letter is N so check your answer to 13a! If you`re still stuck will supply solutions and explanations. Good luck!

Many thanks, Pauline. I now have a much more sensible answer for 14d.

I understand that it's mud/ mustard, board/starboard, etc. but don't see what to enter in the grid!
