I've found this enjoyable but am stuck on 25a ...the works written by our Oly overstepped the mark (8). I have -o-alle- Part of the answer may not be clued.
Any help would be appreciated!

Think cricket. I have the grid filled, and the empty cells dealt with, but can see no connection between the six 3-letter words to be highlighted.

Thanks Cockie. Not being a cricket fan, I wouldn't have got that. I have 5 of the 6 thematic items. Look at the clues where part of the answer hasn't been alluded to ( in the preamble, unnoticed subsidiarily)

Yes, I've worked that out, and I've worked out the relevance of the title (which has nothing to do with the L crossword), but I see no link between the 6 3-letter segments and that theme, or any seventh word.

I too have all six thematic items; I cannot see any connection and it's really bugging me!

There is a 3-letter word that is a synonym for the other six.

Can someone parse 32a please. I think the first 3 letters may be 1 of the 6 superfluous words.
