Thanks jazzgirl, I had worked out bits of them but wasn't satisfied. Meat tea works well but still think us for our party is a bit weak. It remains my favourite crossword though.

Teenieleek, I would have helped if I'd been around - but I'd also have added my 'it's always better to give the clues...' piece! This isn't just because I think it's rude not to, I also dislike it when clues aren't given for the crosswords I don't do. I quite like tackling the odd Guardian or Telegraph clue, but 'is 24 Across Banana and why?' isn't much help to those of us without the paper.

Yes, I'm definitely a 'she', not that it matters!
